Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) and lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) are two of the most ancient Eurasian crops. The focus of WP1 - LEGU-MED project is the recovery and characterization, at phenotypic, genotypic and agronomic level, of a representative collection of chickpea and lentil belonging to the Mediterranean germplasm. The selection of genotypes to be included in the project was mainly based on previous studies available in the scientific literature, reports of national Agricultural Ministry and so on. At the end of the activities scheduled in the WP1, the LEGU-MED partnership, on the base of previous studies, created the chickpea and lentil work collections. Materials with different origin and declared biological status different have been included.
