The effects of growth conditions on the quinone composition of the thermophilic archaeon (archaebacterium, Woese et al., 1990) Sulfolobus solfataricus were investigated. The total quinone content proved quite constant over all the variations of physiological parameters with the sole exception of the change of oxygen supply.
