This contribution discusses a field experience of co-designing information materials on administrative procedures for migrants with the involvement of intercultural mediators. Their participation in the design of the information provided crucial input to make the language, graphic elements and images designed more effective and appropriate for users from different cultural backgrounds, as well as insights for future activities. This experience also offered an opportunity to reflect more generally on the role of intercultural mediators in information design processes. As they are considered “bridges between cultures” their participation can contribute to the goal of a “design for all” and to more inclusive communication necessary in today’s diverse societies.

Abstract
This contribution discusses a field experience of co-designing information materials on administrative procedures for migrants with the involvement of intercultural mediators. Their participation in the design of the information provided crucial input to make the language, graphic elements and images designed more effective and appropriate for users from different cultural backgrounds, as well as insights for future activities. This experience also offered an opportunity to reflect more generally on the role of intercultural mediators in information design processes. As they are considered “bridges between cultures” their participation can contribute to the goal of a “design for all” and to more inclusive communication necessary in today’s diverse societies.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
