The 5th edition of the Copernicus Marine Service Ocean State Report (OSR 5) published in 2021 provides information on changes and variations in the ocean over the past decades, with a focus on changes in the marine environment particularly during the year 2019. It is written by 150 scientific experts from more than 30 institutions and draws from the marine monitoring capabilities of the Copernicus Marine Service. Using satellite data, in situ measurements, and models, the Copernicus Marine Ocean State Report provides a four-dimensional view (latitude, longitude, depth, and time) of the Blue, Green, and White Ocean. It draws on expert analysis, written by over 150 scientific experts from more than 30 European institutions. Scientific integrity is assured through a process of independent peer review in collaboration with the Journal of Operational Oceanography (JOO), an official Publication of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST), published by Taylor & Francis Group.
