Abstract The paper is focused on the archaeological documentation related to the use of water in the Etruscan era which was collected during archaeological surveys performed over the last three decades in the portion of inner southern Etruria between Viterbo and the Tiber valley. These are mostly tunnels dug into the tuffaceous plateaus with drainage or water catchment functions, or votive deposits linked to the presence of worships connected to springs, or even bridges and dams built along some water- courses to favour the passage of roads, the former, and to slow the current and create water reserves, the latter. The use of the main waterway that crosses this area in an east-west direction, the Torrente Vezza, is also hypothesized; indeed, its valley has been a natural link between the area south-east of Bolsena Lake and the Tiber River.
