In recent years, the frequent use of beauty filters has attracted interest for its potential impact on body self-awareness, with various psychological and social implications, especially in adolescents and young women. The widespread use of beauty filters on digital platforms allows people to manipulate their facial and physical features, raising concerns about their influence on the perception of one’s body. Indeed, by distorting and altering one’s physical appearance to conform to online beauty standards, these filters could influence individuals’ self-concept, potentially contributing to the emergence of mental disorders.
