The article studies the presence in Francesco Petrarca’s ‘Triumph of Chastity’ and in Giovanni Boccaccio’s rhyme lxvii of a very rare detail in the context of Cupid’s ‘vituperia’, namely the plucked wings of the god. Apuleius is identified for the first time as probable source of this image; moreover, discarding unlikely polygenetic hypotheses, the paper states that Petrarch took Boccaccio’s rhyme as a hypotext considering reasons of internal and external criticism
