Thermal neutron scattering is a well-established technique, in the field of hydrogen andhydrogen-storage materials, both from the fundamental and the applied points of view. Thanksto neutron scattering techniques it is possible, in general, to answer two fundamental questionsat the microscopic level: 1) where are the hydrogen atoms? 2) what are hydrogen atoms doing? In this presentation, I will review the most relevant characteristics of hydrogen(s) in theframework of thermal neutron scattering techniques, namely diffraction and spectroscopy, andhow, from the experimental results, it is possible to gain information on the microscopicstructural properties of hydrogen-containing materials and their dynamics.

Abstract
Thermal neutron scattering is a well-established technique, in the field of hydrogen andhydrogen-storage materials, both from the fundamental and the applied points of view. Thanksto neutron scattering techniques it is possible, in general, to answer two fundamental questionsat the microscopic level: 1) where are the hydrogen atoms? 2) what are hydrogen atoms doing? In this presentation, I will review the most relevant characteristics of hydrogen(s) in theframework of thermal neutron scattering techniques, namely diffraction and spectroscopy, andhow, from the experimental results, it is possible to gain information on the microscopicstructural properties of hydrogen-containing materials and their dynamics.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
