The social networks analysis and visualization can improve the relationships among their members supporting them in identifying their common goals and cooperating to achieve them. The visualization of the social network can be created mainly using graphs and matrixes. This paper proposes a map-based system for the visualization of people interests during a scientific conference using a matrix approach. The main purpose is allowing a user to detect people that share work interests in order to establish a direct connection by mobile devices with them. Maps are used to stimulate the rise of social networks promoting users' interaction and communication and visualizing them. The system allows visualizing different views filtering information according to: a set of categories that fit her/his work interests; distance between the user position and the position of the selected members in the network; interests of members of the conference.
