The aim of the talk is to introduce basic concepts and problems that have to be addressed once we would like to deal with an effective ontology mediated multimedia information retrieval system, which combines logic-based retrieval with multimedia feature-based similarity retrieval. We also outline the DL-Media systems, which is based on these ideas. We will illustrate its logical model, its architecture, its representation and query language and the preliminary experiments we conducted.
