An informationtechnologytooldevelopedbythecoordinatingcentre(IMIM, Barcelona)wasusedtoadministerquestionnairesonrespiratorysymptoms/diseases and riskfactors,andtorecordspirometricparameters. A MultinomialLogisticRegression(MLR)analysiswasperformedtoassessthe associationbetweenriskfactorsandpresenceofasthmadiagnosis(with/without symptoms)oronlyasthmasymptomsrepresentedbywheezing/whistling,dysp- noea 2ndlevel+,attacksofshortnessofbreathwithwheezesandnocturnalasthma attacks.Subjectswithneitherasthmadiagnosisnorsymptomswerethereference category.
