This paper deals with the effects induced on the dynamics of turbulent boundary layers by the presence of small quantities of microbubbles.The purpose of this contribution is to examine how the features of a turbulent boundary layer over a flat plate are affected by the introduction of air microbubbles of the order of the Kolmogorov scale in very small concentrations. To this purpose, we have carried out an experimental investigation in conditions very similar to those proper of the simulation presented in A. Ferrante and S. Elghobashi: J. Fluid Mech 503 (2004).
