In this paper we illustrate how a dynamic vision of the metadata concept can dramatically improve the management of Learning Objects. Specifically, the ideas elaborated in this paper are contributing to the improvement- in terms of effectiveness and usability of Learning Objects - of FreeLOms, a Learning Object Management System we have developed in the framework of the EU-funded SLOOP Project, Sharing Learning Objects in an Open perspective.
