Active Assisted Living (AAL) is a concept that aims to improve the quality of life and promote the independence of both older adults and people with disabilities through the use of technology and services. AAL solutions are designed to assist individuals with various tasks such as household management, communication, health monitoring, and socialization. These technologies can include smart home devices, wearable sensors, telehealth systems, virtual assistants, and more, requiring to work together seamlessly to provide effective support to individuals and caregivers. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can play an important role in coordinating AAL technologies and optimizing their effectiveness. Taking inspiration from the dual-process cognitive theories, this paper proposes a cognitive architecture, called COCO (from COmbined deduction and abduCtiOn logic reasoner), that aims at investigating the integration of automated planning and rule-based systems as a means of coordinating AAL scenarios.

Abstract
Active Assisted Living (AAL) is a concept that aims to improve the quality of life and promote the independence of both older adults and people with disabilities through the use of technology and services. AAL solutions are designed to assist individuals with various tasks such as household management, communication, health monitoring, and socialization. These technologies can include smart home devices, wearable sensors, telehealth systems, virtual assistants, and more, requiring to work together seamlessly to provide effective support to individuals and caregivers. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can play an important role in coordinating AAL technologies and optimizing their effectiveness. Taking inspiration from the dual-process cognitive theories, this paper proposes a cognitive architecture, called COCO (from COmbined deduction and abduCtiOn logic reasoner), that aims at investigating the integration of automated planning and rule-based systems as a means of coordinating AAL scenarios.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
