Open Science ensures the transparency and reproducibility of research. It also maximises the visibility of results. With the need to monitor hostile areas of the planet, to better understand the Earth system and its climate, marine robotics is now on the rise. Therefore, it is timely to introduce FAIR data policies and open data principles in marine robotics. For this purpose, it is appropriate to harvest the established oceanographic approach for multi platform data and to develop a coherent data infrastructure also for marine robotics. This work motivates the need for standard data curation as an enabler for open data. It also illustrates the workflow that needs to be undertaken to produce a combined FAIR dataset during a field campaign employing a novel robotic platform.
